Ein Experiment: Zu Fuß zur Arbeit Gehen
Wednesday March 4th 2026 | 8.00am | Manhattan (HD, 30fps)
Testing out recording what a guided walk might look like. This is very low fidelity with an iPhone attached to my chest, and I think I overcompensated for the stabilization in the editing, but I’m happy with the general approach of what I’m seeing here. My sense is that I have to upgrade from an iPhone to a GoPro to help with some of the image quality and stabilization, and I’ve been looking at more robust body harnesses I can wear under my jacket to help here also.
But I can very much image using these for some of the guided circuits as part of the monthly walking experiments, and I’m excited to try to bring what I’m actually experiencing to the project in a more tangible way. This walk documents my commute from arriving off the bus at Port Authority, and walking through Times Square up to 30 Rockefeller Center.

This is the walk back to Port Authority bus terminal after work, captured at 4k instead of HD. The quality feels better, but the image still isn’t as sharp, color balanced and defined as I’d like. I think the pacing and overall smoothing (50% warp instead of 100%) is better here than this morning though. I’m planning on investing in a GoPro camera I can mount on my chest in order to be hands free for these (the ones today I was carrying the phone pressed to my chest). I feel like I’m close, and I love the idea of the utility of these in the guided tours.
